I thought it was interesting bringing up the legalization of prostitution to get the support of Male voters because one, I have been told it is very unpopular among the outer borough So-cons that also hate bail reform and two the progressive DA's in NYC have effectively already defacto legalized it in all 4 boroughs of NYC other than Staten Island. I want to know what the likes of @nolesfan2011, @gtjco, @AFineBlogger, @NoahCRothman and @PeterMoskos think about this. The Manhattan DA primary between Alvin Bragg(pro) and Tali Weinstein(anti) came pretty close to being a referendum on Prostitution and Bragg won to shrieks of horror from the NY Post reading outer borough new immigrant and social conservative population.
On the otherhand, I am not sure explicitly legalizing prostitution in NY State as even Kathy Hochul has mused about and which many DSA/Progressive types explicitly support would make it any "cheaper." 1K an hour plus with multi-hour minimums on the high end which given NYC's cost of living I think is actually in the ballpark of other jurisdictions where it is explicitly legal like London.
